The suggestion was intended to eliminate the first step; match leath.

Especially useful when there are seventy in the area, since that command causes two screens of scrolling.

How else can you know that it is number five you need?

Would love it if there was a way to match every item of a type in a room regardless if it is in a container or not. So like, if you're looking for a paenula and you may have put it in any number of containers, it would tell you what container it is in.

match all paenula

1. a red paenula a cabinet
2. a blue paenula a burlap sack
3. a orange paenula a cedar chest
4. a purple paenula under a bed
5. a yellow paenula a nich in the wall

I already have a macro set to match container ( @macro*Container*
match sack|box|backp|draw|foot|jew|satch|chest|sling|qui ver|desk|cab|crat|tube|scrollcase|sling|quiver|pou ch|trunk|neckp

It will tell me every container that is present.)

But I can't get it to work with <Match paenula in sack|box|backp|etc.>
It will only check the first container on the list.

I get so tired of looking for ONE stupid item for hours and not being able to find it even though I know the damned thing is there somewhere.

Typically, 9 times out of 10 in TEC you are bored you just dont realize it because your brain functions at a higher rate and it keeps you from thinking about the possibility that you are simply sitting there doing absolutely nothing.

match all hood
1. a black hooded cloak a bloodstained backpack
match all bloodst
1. a bloodstained backpack a cabinet
2. a bloodstained dagger a cedar chest
match cab
1. a cabinet
get bloodst from cab
You take a bloodstained backpack from a cabinet.
empty back into my sack
You empty a bloodstained backpack into a large sack labeled 'Naughty'.

Hood-seeking x-ray vision! YES! XD

have you tried...

collect custom_itemname from <1-100> *

that SHOULD take care of it for you but you will also have to wait a little bit... and it doesn't work on closed containers.

How about just expanding the search command to:

search room FOR <insert item name here>

If there are multiple items that could qualify have it list them like the match command. Honestly this would simplify searching. You don't always care that someone has stashed a sen in a room somewhere, but you may want to find that hood that you've stuffed behind a desk.

Yeah I guess I wasn't really thinking about how it could be abused, I'm just trying to find my own crap in my tailor's room that is so full of cloth/thread and clothes that I can't find what I'm looking for half the time and good grief trying to look through all the containers in the room to not find what you're looking for even though you KNOW damned well it's there... ugh, it just gets frustrating, it's probably the demise of every tailor at some point, getting lost under a pile of cloth.

I like this idea. Being able to search for a particular item, it might take several searches and depend on your perception but eventually you'll find it without losing your eyeballs to the enormity of the scrolled page.

How about a command that empties your hands...

inh
You are holding a tattooed bandit in both hands.
drop band
You are not carrying a tattooed bandit.
toss band w
You are not holding that.
discard band
If only it were that easy.
undress
You begin to undress.
You are not carrying a tattooed bandit.
You are not carrying a tattooed bandit.
You are not carrying a tattooed bandit.
stop
You are not currently doing anything.
You are not carrying a tattooed bandit.
You come to a stop before having finished undressing.
match band

Matching band

You see:

Object Location
1. A tattooed bandit Graveyard 2

sleep

Nothing like people taking advantage of bugs to screw characters over. You're cool guy.
