Message from Ditto
I am trying to encourage players to play again so I am announcing my personal plan as a plotter.
Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday I will host a plot of some sort. I can't say what time, it may run all day, it may last a few hours but I will do something on those days. The plots may take players to new areas, adventure areas, or temporary areas so keep in mind that you may risk injury, loss of items that are with you, or death. Sometimes you may get a reward such as an item or storypoints for participating in the plot, sometime the plot itself is the reward, you may even get a free mod if the plot allows it. This is not a bribe, merely a suggestion of what you may get out of logging on and playing. I hope to see you soon, love Ditto |

So I need your help. If you have been participating in the recent plots listen closely. You may earn story points! I want you to look through your logs or search your memory of what happened in the swamp and in the valley. In your own words and according to what your character's point of view, write a detailed description of the events that happened. I will put your writing in a newspaper and make a forum post about it.
The purpose is to show those who are missing out, what exactly they missed out on. Send your writing to Ditto (for the time being until and in game person is made. I will even let players run this if they so desire). Don't forget to sign your work. I will either ask you to fix something in your writing (so try to make sure there are no spelling errors and that it's easy to read) or I will page you telling you I accepted your writing and have added story points to your account. Thanks and I look forward to seeing your writings, love Ditto |

Last week was a blast. This week is Doloraux week.
This means tuesday, wednesday, and saturday will be plots that involve the Doloraux house in some manner. Do you have to be a member of the house to participate? Heck no. Everyone is still welcome to tag along and see what I have in store for players this week. However, house members will get bonuses to their rolls! Neat uh! Hope to see you soon, Love Ditto |

Yay. We are having such fun with these plots. I have finally come up with rules to the plot. These are to make rp enjoyable while giving everyone a chance to shine.
Here are the rules: ~When asked to roll type @roll. ~Don't add anything to the roll unless asked. ~When it is your turn, you may respond to what is happening by role playing what you what to happen and then @roll to determine successfullness. Please try to remember that you are merely telling me what you want to happen not what actually happens as what actually happens is based on your roll. Here is a good and bad example of what I mean. Example good: Ditto tries to climb the tree to survey the area. Example bad: Ditto expertly climbs the tree and spots an army just over the hill. She send off two rockets and kills every soldier with just her good looks and aim. ~All rolls that are 1 is automatic failure whereas 12 is automatic success. Keep in mind that you don't always know what your rolling for. Also know that staff can tell if you try to cheat so please don't. ~Everyone gets one save. This save means if you roll a 1 at a bad time you can say save and reroll. Or if you want a hint you can say save and get a hint. Some people may get more saves based on their roles in accordance to the plot. ~According to the plot some people may get bonuses to their rolls. ~All players can die on these plots. It's only permadeath if your body gets left behind. Your body can only be left behind if the group can not beat whatever killed you. ~You may use saves to undo deaths unless otherwise told so. ~If rewards are given most of the time there is enough for everyone so so please share. If your character wouldn't share let me know so I can accommodate you but still be fair to others. ~ You can write your character's point of view about what happened on plots and send them to Ditto for storypoints! Your article will be posted on the forum and in the newspaper about to come out ig. Most of all have fun and keep logging on to see about future plots. IF you have a plot idea you would like to see, page ditto or leave an assist! |

While I absolutely commend your efforts and desire to get plots running in the game to maintain interest, there's perhaps a bit of a flaw to it as well that I'd like to point out...
> who Online[10] (18:29 EST): Achlys, Adrien, Eiryk, Gemma, Ilo, Isthia, Kaine, Master Ekalah, Natalie and Zaria. Staff[1]: StoryPlotter Ditto. > @hotspot Current hotspots with three or more unidle characters: 5 characters in the Bisclavret courtyard. 5 characters in a thanon shoreline. > who Online[8] (18:39 EST): Adrien, Gemma, Gus, Ilo, Kaine, Master Ekalah, Natalie and Zaria. Staff[1]: StoryPlotter Ditto. > @hotspot Current hotspots with three or more unidle characters: 5 characters in the Bisclavret courtyard. 4 characters in a thanon shoreline. They may have an additional side effect of causing those who log in after the fact, or can't make the plot, more hesitant and unwilling to log in. After all, not a whole lot of point to standing around in the commons when everyone is off in a couple areas that are completely separate from the rest of the accessible game. So why log in if everyone is off where you can't actually get in any RP with them? Just an observation. It's not meant as a critique, as again, I commend your efforts to add some fun to the game.

Your observation is noted Ekalah and while I am grateful you brought that to my attention I have a few comments.
First, you can usually @chat or @page ditto and see if you can join the scene. Sometimes it's unreasonable for you to join but I'm usually willing to let everyone join in, though sometimes you have to wait a few minutes to join. Second, when I am in the middle of running a plot I am usually super busy and I don't look at the who list. So I don't even notice when new people log on. I just assume if you don't speak up in chat you dont want to be involved. Third, the point of my plots is to give players something to do and in the long run have players log on and rp without me needing to run plots to get you to log on. |

I had figured that once the scene was underway, that it was "too late" to join, really. Since how would you get out there anyway?
The one that I was able to partake in, yes, it was possible for Ek to just "be there already in another room", but I figured that was sort of the exception to the rule. And I never stated that I expected you to be checking the who list. I only used those as a reference for "anyone else" who uses it as a gauge to see who is available for RP (since that's what the tools are there for). And yup. I'm aware what the long term goal of your plots are. Recall, however, that not everyone knows what the proper protocol is for joining things. In other Skotos games, it's considered improper to page a staff member to ask to be pulled into a plot for no larger reason than "I'm bored, and it's where everyone is". In my case, I come from that mentality, and only being shortly back, I still don't really have a firm grasp of what is considered "okay" in ICO in this area. New players may also not know what's going on, or why everyone is where they can't find them. And may not know of the @chat feature. Which I did use today, as well, by the way. Had a little chat with Cullan's corpse. Again, this was in no way a critique of you, Ditto. I love the fact that you're running the plots to try and rebuild interest in the game.

Rin Week is this week. Woohoo. All rin members get a -2 to target. This week we will start on Wednesday at noon est. Everyone WILL die on the plot (yes it's mandatory, this plot takes place in the afterlife) so if you are against your character dieing you can't participate this week for the most part.

Short notice I know. I plan on having the rebuild plot in the swamp starting today at noon. It will last till Saturday. If you wish to join at any time feel free to get my attention on @chat. But be warned once you're in the swamps you can't return to town till the rebuild is complete. Everyone who has spent tokens you will see emits in the swamp telling so. If you wish to bring materials feel free to.
